Public Sector Services: PFI/PPP

A public-private partnership (PPP) is a partnership formed between a public authority and a private concessionaire. PFI (Private Finance Initiative) was launched in November 1992 and revitalised as part of PPP in 1997. PPP brings together the mutually beneficial partnership of a public body and a private company in a long-term joint venture for the delivery of high quality public services. The PFI has evolved to be the most successful and prolific form of PPP to date, delivering improved public infrastructure and services that provide better value for money and wider benefits for the economy and communities compared to traditional public sector investment. The PPP/PFI process covers the entire project life cycle.

When the finance, design and build phases of the project life cycle are complete, HOCHTIEF Facility Management UK will operate a public facility for local authorities for contract periods of 15 to 30 years. We can boast both experience and know-how in the PPP field, which is an indispensable pre-requisite for being able to consistently guarantee the optimum performance of facilities and the highest level of service delivery for such long periods.

To be able to address and expand the concessions business in Germany and beyond in an even more targeted way, HOCHTIEF PPP Solutions GmbH was founded as part of the HOCHTIEF group, with effect from January 1, 2005.
